    The good stuff at NAB

One of the things that fascinates me of the NAB convention is where people eat.  I’ve always been amazed as to how certain engineers now exactly where to go to get good, cheap, tasty food while many pay for bad, expensive, uninviting food.  When Chileans, find a fine spot to eat, we call that a “picada,” place.  A place that had good, cheap and tasty food.  On your trips to NAB, have you found any “Picadas?” Party!!!

Cheap and tasty? In Vegas? I don't know about that, but in my experiences in Vegas at NAB and otherwise, the best (and more affordable) places are slightly removed from the main drag. I know a place for big, cheap, tasty portions is the Peppermill Cafe and Lounge that's sort of near Circus Circus. They also have an awesome lounge area -- super swanky with fire pits and big comfortable booths. But one of the BEST food experiences I had last year was at Yolies Brazilian Steakhouse. I love churrascarias, and of the ones I've been to in Brazil and the U.S., this is definitely one of the best in the states. And of course, it's run by a Brazilian woman, so she knows what she's doing.

Receptions and Hospitality Suites are always the BIG scores, generally reserved for buyers.  The Food Network's Rachael Ray has several Las Vegas specials - one $40 a Day and another about hidden treasures.

The key is to stay near the vendors and their reps.
