    Strange technical issue

I have a dilemma and I was wondering if somebody could help me analyze this out.  I have an online digital component, NTSC frame rate, video editing system that has an issue I can’t seem to figure out.   The dilemma:At times, the video images will begin to flicker so slightly for no apparent reason.  It’s like RF gets into the cable but this is SDI video (I figured if RF was causing the interference, I would probably lose the digital component video signal all together.)  I began noticing this issue when one of our camcorders was tilted up one day.  After that, the images that came from that camcorder had this flicker anomaly.  Then the flicker went away.  Then two years after that, at times the flicker would return.  I thought at first our camcorder was dying.  Then the flicker would at times show up on images recorder from other sources.  This flicker is unlike what you record when you shoot fluorescent tubes under 50 Hz lighting with a shutter speed of 1/60.  This flicker is less noticeable.  As stated, all video equipment is interconnected via SDI cables.  All cable is brand new and all BNC connectors are true 75 Ohm.  The cables and connectors are well installed.  All cable runs are less than 9 feet (3 m.)  All the video system is properly genlocked. Electrically, all video equipment is powered via a symmetrical power system.  The power provided is 115V at 50 Hz.  All video equipment is 50-60 Hz compatible. The flicker is recorded and is not just an anomaly of analog video connections to the video monitors.  All video equipment is about 10 years old.

Has anybody seen flicker situations like this before?Tongue Tied

    Re: Strange flicker

Probably phantom RF from a monitor in close proximity.

Verify that it isn't RF leakage from a second monitor.
