    Wireless Cameras Broadcast

    Hi Guys,

A quick question and I am a novice about this stuff, please forgive me.

An ESPN game shows a cameraman with a camera which allowed the video signal to be broadcasted (I have an HDTV if that matters), but I am unable to find such a camera

Sony has the PDW700 Professional Disc Camcorder; is this the camera ESPN was using?

Is this camera tape or memory card/stick?

I also noticed there was a mention of an Ethernet connection on the Sony site and I know the Broadcasting industry was playing with this. Am I to assume, this camera can record either by stick or tape and is a wireless broacasting apparatus to a receiver (in the so-called traditional sense), or was this camera capturing and recording video and then sent wirelessly through the internet to a receiver and then that internet signal was sent via HD?

Thank you for any help on this

    Hello happyfeet,

They are likely using a camera with a transmitter attached, and reciever as you suggest. Any number of cameras will work, provided there is an HD-SDI output at the camera available to feed the transmitter (assuming this was an HD production).
