My company, Latin American Pay Television is launching an HD all movie channel in the upcoming months.  We have all of our HD materials workflow completed but unfortunately not all of our product is available in high definition.  We will have to upconvert some movies from NTSC to 1080i59.94.

 I wanted to get some feedback from people on what up-converter they would recommend.  I have looked at several but want to get opinions from people who have used them.

I like the Miranda model XVP-1801-UC as it does a real quality up-conversion plus it passes and/or converts closed captions. I have several here at WPEC-TV and they just keep working - plus they have the ability to fill the side bars should you not want to stretch/distort a 4x3 original.

Colbalt Digital also make a nice up-converter card.

depending on how many upconverters you need, you may want to save some money by getting only one and make it as a source on your router.

Miranda works great, the problem with that is the setup is kind a problematic, because you need to navegate throguh a sets of switches in the front of the card, plus the fact that if you need downmix your audio, that's an option ( another 2 to 3 grand), I have thre or four and Icontrol ( another option) that allows me to change settings using an ethernet conenection.

I will go with a stand alone unit, as I mentioned before.
