I have two theories as to the parents' complacence: either 1) they don't care enough about others to control their children or 2) they have blown out their hearing with overly loud earbuds and can't hear the kids. I think it's the former. Yes, I realize the kids are bored. Yes, I realize they don't want to be on the plane any more than I do. But, it is a parent's responsibility to teach their kids how to quietly occupy themselves when stuck in a situation they don't like. I taught my son those skills and you obviously did the same with your kids. Sometimes the noise can't be avoided - I remember flying with my son when he was only 6 months old and he cried the whole time (to my chagrin) but there's a difference between a crying infant and a shrieking 3 year old. Parents: control your kids!
