I like the Sirius from Probel, does anyone knows if it supports crosspoint redundancy ???

I know that Utah & Nvision does. Probel also but for the larger systems.

Looking for RF Router/Switch Matrix

Hello all.

I'm new here. First post on the forum.

I'm looking for names of companies that deal with RF routers and switch matrix's (matracies, whatever...).

I'm not in the TV or broadcast industry. I have several wideband (20 MHz almost to 2 GHz) rooftop antennas. I want to be able to select which office gets which antenna feed.

Many years ago, I worked at a TV station and the router would route different sources (Sat Feed/VTR/live/etc) to an edit bay or some other VTR. I'm looking to basically the same thing but with a wideband feed. So, I'm looking for names of switch matrix vendors to see what they have to offer.

1- Ingest:

Take care that they were talking deeply in the last meeting abut HD format, they said they want all the infrastructure to be able to work HD simply in the near future.

very cool thing...using a DSLR camera for real news application. (i am not a company shill, end user for tv news and commercials)

biggest plus: no tape, record to compact flash. plugged my usb drive into station computer, pow.

was shooting using dsr400 full size shoulder mount dvcam, great camera.

station transitioned to hard drive cams, and soon to HD.

this dslr shoots SD 4:3 or, get this, full 1080P widescreen at 30fps.

i shot SD to mesh with station editing stations. lead story about flooding conditions.

since i report/shoot/edit as one man band, it was incredibly interesting to use this unit.

FULL 35mm size pickup, uses film EF lenses for incredible depth of field movie quality shooting. also can be problem.

has a mic input jack. used a small plug in stereo mic for nat. have tested a sony wireless and a wired mic as well.

have further info if anyone is curious. (transcoding to drop frame, audio issues, focus issues, accessory issues)

the cam body is 2700 list plus lenses.

there ARE drawbacks, serious differences in operation. but it works, and i suspect this

is the way newspaper video and web video will go.

just amazed at the implications this new development has for independent movie makers, web and tvnews use.

Acoustic, RF measurement and other equipment

Is there anyone who can help me find the right acoustic equipment manufacturers? Actually, my best friend who is a distributor of acoustic equipment is confused these days as he is getting a lot of complaints from customers related to these products including light scattering device, RF measurement devices and other instrumentation products.

I have already asked about the same a week back in my blog and I have got two responses. Both the responses have the mention of Aimil as a reliable source to get this acoustic equipment, light scattering device, RF measurement devices, etc.

These guys are themselves operating on these products procured from Aimil as they say. But I want some more positive response so that I can guide my friend. Actually he is such a busy person that he hardly gets time do a market survey to know about reliable suppliers and acoustic equipment manufacturers who deal in quality products. Price is not a problem for him or his customers. What they demand is quality products.

These guys also said that they have been working on Aimil products for several years without the least complaints and that they require less maintenance compared to other products. I do not know important these acoustic equipments, light scattering device, or RF measurement devices are. Browsing through Google search pages I came to know what RF measurement is or what role acoustics play in the engineering sector. Does RF measurement mean radio frequency measurement? I am still in doubt....guys please help me out.

Hi everyone, we're planning to buy two new Aurora Edits stations but without the AJA capture card, only capturing from Panasonic P2 cards (USB2.0), a local Sony VTR (1394) and voice from a microphone.

Can you suggest us some Microphone/Line adapters to USB2.0 compatibles with the Aurora Edit software?

We've tried with units from M-Audio (Fastrack USB) without results.

Going Digital and I need to know what to get on a small budget

Here is the deal, the TV station just hired me because they havent had an audio engineer on staff in almost 15 years. They still run mono for heaven sake. Here is my question, since we are moving to digital, I would love to get them to a digital desk with a lot of internal options. Im extremely used to a PM1d both inside and out and I love what I can do with the desk. Now is there a console out that there that doesnt cost as much but has a lot of functionality? My search includes a lot of AES/EBU if possible and preferably nice preamps. Any ideas on what to get? I appreciate the help.

The credit card charge backs, the unexpected immediate relocation, the additional issues caused by AT&T, the damage done in the forums by a handful of new clients; My time, (In this order), is focused on:

1) Continuing to generate immediate cash to help compensate for, losses in theft through credit card charge backs and extensive losses in expenses and lost sales since March 23^rd, 2008, through new sales of our Rathbone Energy Lithium Ion Batteries and Chargers which are not manufactured in-house for now, but are manufactured to our specifications. 1A) New lithium ion battery and charger orders that I have personally handled since June 17, 2008, are on schedule, with minor delays in shipping, due to the Olympics and Customs. And, there was a hold up for new labels.

1B) I have sorted through the sales files of my Director of Sales, on leave of absence, and those lithium ion battery orders already in her files from April and May are also now organized and in process. With the bad things now in the past, and with some organization, All new lithium ion battery and charger, lighting, and camera bag orders will continue to move smoothly and the newer the order the quicker it will process and ship. Many Li-ON orders have already shipped. There is a lot of work before we are shipping rebuilds and the sales of these LI-ON batteries is required to fulfill those obligations.

1C) These things MUST happen so that 2, 3, and 4 can happen.

2) Getting my equipment up and running so I can do the battery rebuilds already in-house.

3) Getting my people back in the building which requires generating more immediate cash through the sale of my new lithium ion packs and other new products.

4) Tackling existing packed battery shells for rebuilding. I must get the prior rebuild orders fixed first, in Chronological Order. All in the above order because I must first take care of my health and the health of my business to be able to take care of the rebuild orders already in house for Every great client, not just eight or ten.

NAB is always expensive for me and I pay last minute. The events with the landlord and relocation were the reason we were not present at NAB 2008.

I should have been back up and running the battery rebuilding by 80% seven weeks ago. Although the disparagement to me in the forums from a few clients has, as they wish, hurt my business and slowed down sales, which are always very slow in the summer anyway, they have succeeded in slowing down my ability to finish my relocation quickly, place my staff members back on payroll, take care of years old good clients with rebuild orders in-house, and take care of them, but, it is giving me lots of ammunition for future events against the old landlord and other. A couple of new clients have seriously abused a staff member, now on leave. A couple of fairly new clients with prior business here have attempted to roll me like Wal-Mart in the past and are now using the forums as a tactic to get things not due them or to strike because they did not get things not due them. There will be no more responses through the forums by me to the disparagements against me, no matter how bad I want to respond. There are at least two sides to every coin. I could pull email documents and receipts but this bickering will stop at my door. I understand why they do not post publicly. Maybe it is the economic depression, a lack of time for proper moderation in the forums, or a reflection on us all. With my current work load I do not have the time desired to be present in the forums as I would like.

Best SD--HD Upconverters

My company, Latin American Pay Television is launching an HD all movie channel in the upcoming months. We have all of our HD materials workflow completed but unfortunately not all of our product is available in high definition. We will have to upconvert some movies from NTSC to 1080i59.94.

I wanted to get some feedback from people on what up-converter they would recommend. I have looked at several but want to get opinions from people who have used them.

Panasonic AV HS 400 Tally lights

I'm putting together a live video mixing system with the AV HS 400 and wondering how I can implement a tally light system. The camera's I'll be using are the JVC GY-HD250U. Ideally I'd like to utilize the tally lights in the camera as opposed to mounting external lights on the camera. Does anyone have idea's? Thanks! Christopher

We just received our first shipment of New Lithium Ion Batteries, Chargers, Broadcast and Studio Lighting, and Camera Bags to fill existing in-house orders for our new lines. I will spend a couple of days taking new pictures for our web site and on-line store before shiping out to clients.

These lithium ion batteries are built to our specifications. We have tried for years to get resonible rates in the US for injection moulding with no luck. All the time loosing sales and profits.

Last year we went under contract with a line to our specifications with what we thought was the real manufacturer. I had never dealt with China before.

Now we are really dealing directly with a manufacturer who also is building to our specifications. This has enabled us to dramatically reduce our price structure and increase our sales volume, all good.

Since this first order has processed, the normal lead time will be about three weeks from date of payment.

Relocating into an alternate facility affects our equipment for product we manufacture in house. It does not affect product we order manufactured to spec for us.

Euphonix Artist Series

Maybe I'm just out of the loop, but I was shocked to see Euphonix come out with a VERY affordable control surface line for home/project studios. Saw them at the NAMM show and was wowed. At the price point, it seems like these could find utility almost anywhere, including broadcasting. And maybe my basement...

So - has anyone had a personal hands-on session with the MC Control and/or MC Mix?
