I have TV Channel project now and the client gave me his required and I like you to help me to understand where I should go and how and why ...let us help together to have best requirements so you see in the following the customer what he needs:

1- Ingest:

a. Total number of simultaneous ingested channels: 2-3

b. The number of VTR’s that would be used for ingesting directly to the server: 3 (One Digi beta and one DV)

c. They would use solid state cameras (P2 or XDCam), so… take that in your consideration in the ingest. (I mean that mostly we the files directly here with some ready MAM information for Archiving)

d. the compression rate: between 15-35Mbps Maximum. Or something equivalent. “but it could be required to ingest the solid state Native or as MXF, “not clear yet, your opinion would be welcomed”. Take care that they were talking deeply in the last meeting abut HD format, they said they want all the infrastructure to be able to work HD simply in the near future.

e. the main signal would be SDI-Embedded… they think that this more sophisticated and it would solve many synchronizing problems

F. They are talking about the whole testing equipment in the ingest room of course.

A. Playout channels 4 (two to the MCR with A/B capabilities), if you have any suggestion here it would be welcomed.

B. Total storage for about 150-200 Hours @ 25Mb/s

C. The server should be deal with MPEG-2, DV, P2, XDCam, (but as I told you they are always asking about the HD capability and the difference in prices).

D. Playlist and ingest control manager (with ingest monitoring).

E. we’ve talked about the automation, and that would be with less importancy for the first channel, but they want us to offer it as a option at list with it’s benefit. They are insist to offer it from now.

5- Routing:

a. SDI with Embedded Audio 64x64,

b. We would need many other emergency Router.

c. Multiviewer System they are talking now about many units not just in the MCR, but even in the studio control rooms – ingest room – and some other areas, I think they heard that the prices for this tech. is going lower. Anyway this is what they talk about.

6- Clock system/Genlock/Distributors/DA- - -

7- Masters Control:

a. Masters Control Switcher (with the needed peripherals) and all the emergencies that would be needed in the room

b. Logo Generator

8- Graphics:

a. For SMS

b. For one Studio

c. enhancement Graphic system for the graphic departments

9- Archiving & MAM system: it would be from the first day in the channel. With full Hardware/software capabilities

so do you have any suggestion ??
