Public calling tv stations for help

I'm not sure about your tv station's telephones, but ours is ringing off the hook with questions about the DTV transition. Most of these calls are people wanting to know about converters or how to setup their converters. Next is, how do I find your station on my new DTV. Why can't I see your station on our outside antenna (which has been there since Howdy Doody was on the air). It is very hard to be of any assistance when you don't know each and every unit on the market. There needs to be a central clearing house that we can direct these folks to have their questions answered. It needs to be setup by Uncle Sam and funded by the manufactures and dealers who are doing a crappy job of assisting the general public.

From experience, shared & personal, the majority of places which sell the converter boxes are almost completely ignorant.

Best recommendation I know of is referring them to 800-DTV-2009 which is the phone number related to www.dtv2009.com.  They state that "We're available to take questions or take coupon requests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."  Let 'em have it!

Also, http://www.dtvboxanswers.com/ gives some reviews on the various boxes.  But I recommend www.savingslot.com: they actually list the specifications sheets on boxes and have a variety of boxes available. They were fast, accurate and easy to use.

    Regards,
