Dalet does not have a good option to mass-convert music files. But there are some good 3rd-party programs

There are a couple of different options you have.

The cheapest way is to do with dBpowerAmp. You can convert multiple items with a special Dalet codec (which is on their site for free). Convert those in your Dalet music directory. After that, let Dalet check for missing soundfiles in the BaseBrowser menu.

    Hello Ben.

Importing the music into Dalet 5.1 can be very tricky!

First - You need dbpoweramp to convert your audio files into snd or any other format.

Second - If you know anything about Sybase mixed in with PHP or ASPX. Write a script to grab Artists and Titles from MP3 ID3Tag.

third - After you export your PHP script into a text file, you can Import your titles using IMPEX.

Fourth- Open up Sybase Central and open the Dalet Database - goto a table called titles_in_class and type in "update titles_in_class set class_id = XXX where class_id = 0; This should update all the titles in the Dalet Base Browser.

Last - Mixing the audio files to set points in Mix Edit.

If you still having problems importing your music into Dalet, I'll be happy to do it for you at a set rate.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

    Good luck Ben

PS.... I did forget to rename your converted audio files to 00000001.snd but you can write a script. It can be very tricky!!!!! But if I was doing it, it would take me less then 6 hours to do the whole job (apart from converting audio to snd).

Agreed with Andy.  3 months ago, our team help clients migrate Audio Vault system to Dalet 5.1e. We also use Dalet IMPEX to migrate the metadata in Audio Vault DB.

About the soundfile, we use dbPowerAmp. However, it will make the sound quality not as good as pre-converted file.

     Good Luck.

I find the information about Dalet difficult to understand, so can anyone help me with this:

    1. Commercials, can you set it to get commercials from a folder, and play them in the right order (if you set the first commercial to be 1 - filename etc.? Or do you have to make a bolk with the right commercials every time, so its only one file?
    2. If you set the jukebox/autoplayer to get the playlist from STATIONNAME*MONDAY etc, will it play the same music next monday to? Or will it generate a new playlist? (This is when you use get random audiofile in the template)
    3. How do you set the intro nd outro time on every song?

maby you can use AudioLink to mass import audio files into dalet, its convert the complete directory(s) to the audio format form dalet and add it to the database.

In the Base Browser, dubble click on a titel.
Then you can set the intro time into the textbox:  Intro. time: 00'00.0

there are lots of better software to use, rather than using dalet it more complicated than the other 3rd party programs

    One more Question!

Does the automation part of Dalet work?

If I make a template, called STATION*MONDAY , and set it to get that, will it generate new music each monday? or use the same as the monday before (ofcourse I have the template to get random music from folders, not direct song enteries)?
